Randall W. Atkins - Founder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
Randall Atkins is a founder of Ramaco and has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors since its inception in 2015. He was also appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2021. He has been involved in energy-related investment and financing activity for over 40 years, and previously served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of privately held Ramaco Coal, LLC since its inception in 2011. Prior to forming Ramaco, he was with J.P. Morgan & Co. He served as the immediate past Chairman of the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Coal Council, is a Member of the Coal International Advisory Board of the International Energy Agency in Paris, France, and is on the Board of Directors of the National Mining Association. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University and a Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law.
Christopher L. Blanchard - EVP for Mine Planning and Development
Chris Blanchard is EVP for Mine Planning and Development, overseeing the execution and planning of coal production and infrastructure in the East and development of rare earth deposits at the Brook Mine in Wyoming, as well as its related processing and refining infrastructure to support Ramaco’s critical mineral production. He has managed significant mining operations for a range of major public and private companies, particularly in Central Appalachia. Mr. Blanchard received his Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute, a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Charleston and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Jeremy R. Sussman - EVP & Chief Financial Officer
Jeremy Sussman is Chief Financial Officer of Ramaco, beginning his role in 2019. He has an extensive background in the coal industry through his many years as one of the leading mining and mineral industry analysts on Wall Street. Prior to joining the Company, he served as Managing Director – Mining and Metals at Clarksons Platou Securities (“Clarksons”). Mr. Sussman worked at Clarksons since 2013, and prior to that was a research analyst focusing on the coal space at Citadel and at a variety of other sell-side and buy-side hedge funds. He graduated from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
Jason T. Fannin - EVP & Chief Commercial Officer
Jason Fannin is the Chief Commercial Officer and oversees sales, marketing, and logistics. He has broad experience in the coal industry through his work over the past 25 years at various public and private coal companies. Prior to joining Ramaco in 2020, Mr. Fannin held a variety of senior sales and marketing positions with Contura Energy, Alpha Natural Resources, and AMCI Resources. Mr. Fannin holds dual Bachelor of Science degrees in both chemical engineering and chemistry from the West Virginia Institute of Technology and earned his Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, from the Appalachian School of Law.
John C. Marcum - EVP for Production
John Marcum is the EVP for Production and has extensive accounting experience in the coal industry through his work at various publicly traded coal companies over the past 25 years. Prior to joining Ramaco in 2018, originally as Controller, Mr. Marcum served as Vice President of Accounting for Alpha Natural Resources. He previously held accounting and finance management positions with Massey Energy, Magnum Coal, and Arcelor Mittal. Mr. Marcum holds a BBA in Accountancy from Marshall University and an MBA from Morehead State University.
Paul B. Horn - EVP for Mine Operations
Paul Horn is EVP for Mine Operations. He brings to Ramaco almost 30 years of experience as one of the most senior mining executives in the Central Appalachian region. Prior to joining Ramaco, he worked for over 20 years at the privately held Booth Energy Group, including as President and Chief Operating Officer. He began his career in operations at Alliance Coal and has served as the past Chairman of the Kentucky Coal Association. Mr. Horn holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
Evan H. Jenkins - General Counsel
Evan Jenkins is General Counsel for Ramaco, beginning this role in February 2024. Mr. Jenkins has a long and distinguished career, including as the former Chief Justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court, former two term U.S. Congressman, and longtime West Virginia State Legislator. He also serves as president of The Ramaco Foundation and a member of its board of directors. Before joining Ramaco, Jenkins served as Senior Vice President, Government Affairs at the U.S.Chamber of Commerce inWashington, D.C., the world’s largest business organization.Mr. Jenkins received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Floridaand his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law atSamford University.
J. Scott Kreutzer - SVP & Chief Administrative Officer
Scott Kreutzer is Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, beginning this role in 2022. He brings to Ramaco over 25 years of experience in operational, strategic, legal and land administration matters. Prior to joining Ramaco, he had served as an Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer at Contura Energy. He previously served as Senior Vice President at Alpha Natural Resources, Eagle Specialty Materials as General Counsel and TECO Coal as Head of Business Development. Mr. Kreutzer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Transylvania University and a Juris Doctor from Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
B. Scott Spears - EVP for Planning and Analysis
Scott Spears is EVP for Planning and Analysis, overseeing all external audit and public reporting activities, as well as IT and general financial and investment modeling. He has been with the Company since 2020 and has previously served in various senior executive roles in the coal industry over his 30-year career. These have included as Chief Executive Officer at Jesse Creek Mining in Alabama and President and Chief Financial Officer at White Oak Resources in Illinois. Mr. Spears has served as the Company’s head of Finance since 2021 and oversees SEC compliance and general financial statement preparation. He graduated from West Virginia University with Bachelor of Science in the Accounting.
Toby P. Edwards - SVP for Mine Operations
Toby Edwards is Ramaco’s Senior Vice President for Mine Operations. He joined Ramaco in 2017 as Vice President, Surface Mining. Over his 25-year career in the coal industry, Mr. Edwards has served in various operational roles for Massey, Alpha, and other Central Appalachian coal companies. His responsibilities have included production, planning and development of surface mining operations, as well as oversight of underground operations, preparation plants and river barge loading facilities. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in the Mine Engineering.
